Quality Softeners are hard to find these days, and getting all worth-the-money seems ‘Next to Impossible’.
In my case, I was looking out for a quality softener – not too costly, yet something that offers the best performance. That’s how I ended up with the Aquios FS-220 Salt Free Water Softener, which has an inbuilt Filtration feature! This way you can not only soften the water but also purify it!
Do the specifications match a bit here? If yes, then you should learn more about Aquios FS-220 model, and check out how it turned out for me!
Aquios Water Softener Review: Aquios FS-220 Salt Free
The softener comes with an inbuilt filtration which is rated at 5 microns. You will find a carbon block similar to the one which is found in a water filter. Also, the water softener doesn’t make use of salt. Instead, they make use of the food-grade additives that turn the water soft and reduces all the scale buildups eventually.
This also means that you don’t have to deal with the resin ever. Keep on changing the additive in every 2-4 months. Let’s move on to the Specifications of the model.
Features in Focus!
The one thing that made me love this system more is the way it works. Yes, it’s a commercial product yet the natural working principle of it gives you a mineral-free and better cleaning solution.
Aquios makes use of polyphosphate additive which is a natural element – they effectively act on the scales and inhibits the growth of it. There will be some difference in the quality of the water, but it won’t be that slippery one that you usually find with the softeners.
It combines a whole-house softening along with the filtration system – which makes the product one of its kind! You can soften the water, and also remove sand, sediments from the water.
It’s not important, yet something that you should know about your water softener.
Specifications will help in determining the space required, and also a better understanding of the working. Aquios FS-220 Water Softener has the following specifications:
|Ports||3/4 inch threaded brass near the lining|
|Shape||Compact in Shape. A bit different than the standard ones|
|Size||27 x 10 x 8 inches|
|Taste||Plain, chlorine-free taste|
|Working Temperature||40 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit|
These were the specifications that you will find on the Aquios FS-220, and now I shall list the things that found good and bad for this water softener.
- Softening and Filtering – Combo product!
- No need to buy Salts
- More natural processing than most of the other Softeners
- No power needed for the functioning! Runs without electricity.
- Ensures that there is no pressure loss on the output end.
- One lifetime of the filter cartridge could filter about 40,000 gallons of water.
- Comes with the mounting brackets for better installation
- You will have to buy filters regularly though.
- Filter Clogging found
- If the housing is not done right, then it could lead to leakages.
That’s how the Pros and Cons of the Aquios FS-220 goes. It has a few drawbacks, yet offers you amazing features. Clogging issue is the main problem reported so far, and yes there will be leakages if the attachments are not installed rightly. So, you need to make sure that all the connections are tightly done.
Aquios softener is not meant for heavy use, therefore don’t expect it to take huge water intakes. For the price, it’s indeed all worth the purchase! It’s a universal kind of system, and the only point to note is- it could not work properly for heavy loads.
